Receipts are a good thing.
I recently went on a trip with my daughter who was relocating over 800 miles away. Being the bookkeeper that I am, I saved every receipt from gas to coffee to the multiple trips we made to Home Depot and Target to set up her new house. They all went in the same little zipper compartment in my purse.
As is often the case, we were mixing up our funds; sometimes I’d pay, sometimes she would. After a while, she ran out of cash and my Amex took over. It was a very messy deal, financially speaking. However, being Mrs. I-Save-Receipts, I was able to sit down the night before I went back home and make a quick summary of internet money online who paid for what and who owed whom.
It was a good lesson I wanted to share with my readers. SAVE THOSE RECEIPTS!
The part I still haven’t figured out is how to get my daughter to pay back the part she owes me. I guess that’s a different skill set…
